Born on 6th of July 1954 in Stockholm. Studies in music in Stockholm at Birkagården Public High School and at the Royal Music College.

He played in a band and has worked as a theatre musician. He has also teached orchestration and composition at Royal College of Music. From 1983 working full-time as composer. 
His music has received numerous awards, among them the Grand Christ Johnson Award in 2000. 

His music is focused mainly on orchestral music; at the present five symphonies and several concertos. Also three operas, where ¨Zarah¨, about the swedish artist Zarah Leander and her career in the Third Reich, became a success and was seen by more than 25.000 during 52 performances at Folkoperan in Stockholm, autumn 2007. 

He has been composer-in-residence at the Västerås Sinfonietta 2016-17.
